Coin Toss Update

This weekend saw some crazy coin tosses. I know being the official coin toss caller for Geritol is a very difficult job, there are a lot of lows and very few highs but I also know there are only a few people that can do this type of work and still respect their teammates who sit in the dugout second guessing the call. I will be updating this entry thoughout the year to see how many times we win the coin toss and how many times tails comes up more then heads.

  Here's a recap:

1st Game : Octane from Great Falls - The softballers from GF called heads on the coin flip and won. record 0-1

2nd Game: Cameron's Team - I called tails on the flip and lost. record 0-2

3rd Game: Silver Slipper - I called tailes and won. record 1-2

4th Game: Octane from Great Falls - They called heads and won. record 1-3

5th Game: Team Hype - With the natives restless I called Tails and won. record 2-3

6th Game: Blue Sox - I called Tails with and won. record 3-3.

Heads -vs- Tails - 3 heads 3 tails

Re: Coin Toss Update

There is a little confusion on the coin toss this past week in league play. I was late for the game and missed the coin flip but I was told by a semi reliable source what happened the first game with the coin toss.

Game 7: Reds Bar: Reds called tails and it came up tails. Team record now 3-4

Game 8: Gilly's: Gillys called heads and it came up heads. Team record now 3-5

Heads -vs- Tails - 4 heads and 4 tails.

Another set of league games and two more coin flips. I guess we are paying our umpires so bad that a coin was not used, we used the brush to sweep off home plate so this may screw up the entire stats for the year. If somebody could bring a coin to our next game in case the umpire doesn't have one that would be much appreciated.

Game 9: Rausch Wood:  I called tails (side of the brush with no black markings) and it came up heads (side of the brush with black markings). Team record now 3-6

Games 10: Reds: They called Tails (again the side of teh brush with no markings) and it came up heads. Team record now 4-6.

Heads -vs- Tails now sits at 6 for heads and 4 for tails.

Re: Coin Toss Update

What a wonderful weekend to be a part of. The softball was good but what we witnessed with the coin flips will be something talked about for years to come. Did you realize that what happend with the coin flips had less then a 1% chance of happening? It had a 1/(2^7) chance of happening! You can read more about it here http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/526284.html. I am still in a bit of shock but let's take a look at what happened:

Game 11: (1 of the tournament): XXL: They called it tails and it came up tails. Team record now 4-7.

Game 12: Not sure the team name: They called it heads and it came up tails. Team record now 5-7.

Game 13: Ananconda: They called tails and it came up tails. Team record now 5-8.  3 tails in a row!!!

Game 14: True Grit: We called tails and it came up tails. Team record now 6-8. 4 tails in a row

Game 15: Blue Sox. This is where it gets even more interesting. The blue decided to flip the coin to determine who would call the flip. We were heads and the Sox were tails. It came up tails. The Blue Sox then called heads and it came up tails. That is 6 tails in a row and our team record for home is 7-8.

Game 16: Blue Sox. We called tails and it came up tails. Team record now 8-8.

Heads -vs- Tails -- Tails now leads with 11 and heads has 6.

I contacted ESPN to see if they could do a story on this once in a lifetime event however I haven't heard from them yet.

Heads -vs- Tails -- Tails has 12 and heads has 7.
