Lolo man fends off deer that attacked his dog.
Associated Press.
LOLO- A 41 year-old Lolo area man got into a tussle with an aggressive deer after it attacked one of his several poodles. Shawn Hollenback says it happened Monday about 15 miles southeast of Missoula.
Hollenback says he let three of his poodles outside and then heard one"screaming bloody murder." He went outside and saw a doe attacking "Pinky," the smallest of the three poodles. Hollenback kicked at the deer's hind legs to try to get the animal off his dog.
He says the doe rammed him with its head and pushed him into his fence. Hollenback started walloping the little doe's head with a heavy metal street sign until it eventually jumped his fence and limped away.
Hollenback says he sustained bruises where the small girl deer rammed its head into his abdomen. "Furry little bumps on my tummy," He called them.
Pinky was pronounced OK by the family veterinarian. Mr Hollenback remains under close observation as he exhibited warning signs of PTSD. Also known as Poodle Trauma Separation Disorder. Mr Hollenback was quoted as saying, "A man has got to protect his poodles." Clearly Mr. Hollenback holds his poodles in high regard.
